No Ideas What To Write? Just Ask Around For It
Your readers are the greatest asset to have when you want to compose content
Writer’s block is a bane for people who want to produce content on a steady schedule. It isn’t easy being creative, especially when you have so many things to think about. From choosing a topic to writing an outline, there are a lot of things to do and, considering that you have deadlines, it is likely that you will end up rushing through it.
But I wonder, does it need to be like that?
I mean, yes, you should be efficient and get your work done on time, but the process of coming up with good ideas is a gift that not everyone has. I don’t have ideas for my stories all the time and that’s why I ask the public for their opinions. They are generous enough to give me their ideas, which I then put into my stories.
Here are some steps to utilise in order to get the most out of your public’s opinions:
1. Allow people to tell you what they want to hear about a subject.
You can ask them directly or you can get them online from forums, articles, social media sites, etc. The people will usually give out their ideas on what they think the best topic to write or talk about is. If you think that the topic they are suggesting has potential, then you can take it from there.
2. Make it your own by adding your own input.
This is important because your writing will become bland if you are just copying and pasting other people’s opinions. Make sure that the topic has your own personal touch to it.
3. Do not stick to just one suggestion.
This is to evaluate if the topic that you have right now is worth pursuing further or not. It might be that there are more than enough topics to choose from, or it could be that only one or two are worth considering.
4. After you’ve finished writing, solicit feedback from the general public.
This is to see if there is anything that you might have missed or can still be improved on. Perhaps, one of the audience has a better suggestion than what you have.
Once you are done with these steps, then and only then will you be able to produce a worthwhile piece of content. It all starts with how you gather your ideas.
The advantage of asking for the public’s opinion is that it saves you a lot of time. You don’t have to browse the internet for ideas and you don’t have to think of any on your own. All that is required of you is to put those suggestions into a good format so that others can read and understand them better. Not everyone has the talent or skill of being a great writer, but by following this advice, you can broaden your chances of success with a minimum amount of effort.
It also helps connect you with your readers because you are letting them know that their opinions matter to you. The relationship between the writer and their audience is an important one; without one, the other half is lost. With this in mind, you will be able to produce something that appeals to a wide audience, and, in turn, you will gain more fans or readers who will continue to support you.
There are really no disadvantages to this method, but if I had to come up with one, it would be that you have to sort through all of the ideas and suggestions in order to find the ones that are any good. But this really isn’t even a disadvantage because thanks to the power of the internet, you can use different websites and tools in order to accomplish this.
I hope that my input on this matter has been helpful to you. Use these steps and improve your skills as a writer or speaker.
